Hotohori is a powerful warrior. Many people think he's weak because he doesn't fight very often, but every time the opportunity arises, it's either somebody who kicks *everybody's* butt from here to next week or he gets incapacitated somehow. When he does fight, however, it's amazing. Hotohori was born and bred to be royalty, and brought up accordingly. He was taught fencing from a very young age, and now, at age 18, he is incredibly skilled. He doesn't fight with martial arts, probably because it would be "undignified" for the emperor to engage in hand to hand combat, but his chi, or life energy is extremely powerful. During the fight between a brainwashed Tamahome and Hotohori, who was protecting Miaka with his life, it was observed (not sure by who, but probably Chichiri) that Hotohori's life force was, in fact, more powerful than Tamahome's. Hotohori has a devotion and detirmination that make him incredibly powerful and a force to be reckoned with. He nearly killed Tamahome. (Thankfully Mitsukake was around and ready to heal him, once the spell on him broke). So there's my little opinion on why Hotohori is NOT a weakling. back |
